Elden Ring: Stonesword Key Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Elden Ring Stonesword Keys are unique items required for unlocking hidden paths and legendary loot.

They are consumables found on corpses, hidden in chests, or bought from nomadic traders. Their role is to break the fog at Imp Statue Seals across the Lands Between and the Limveld region of the Nightreign expansion.

Essential Base Game Pickups

Securing these early is a mandatory step for building a powerful character:

• Stormhill Shack (Limgrave): Found right next to the Site of Grace. This is the best way to get an early key before hitting Stormveil.
• Bridge of Sacrifice (Limgrave): Look for a corpse behind a ballista at the end of the bridge.
• Dragon-Burnt Ruins (Limgrave): Located in a small room guarded by a Giant Rat near the main hall.
• Academy Crystal Cave (Liurnia): Hidden inside a cage within the room where you find the Sages.
• Auriza Hero's Grave (Altus Plateau): Found on a corpse located between the paths of two chariots in the first hall.
• Roundtable Hold: You can purchase 3 keys from Enia the Finger Reader for 4,000 Runes each.

Shadow of the Erdtree: Imbued Keys

In the Realm of Shadow, unique gateways often require Imbued Sword Keys rather than standard Stonesword Keys:

• Castle Ensis: A key is hidden in a chest located just before the main boss arena. This is the best way to activate the nearby Belfry portal.
• Belurat, Tower Settlement: Keys are found in side chambers and sewers, and they are required to access the only path to the Heal from Afar incantation and other rare DLC gear.

2026 Limveld & Randomized Loot

The latest Nightreign DLC introduced specialized mechanics for obtaining keys during your three-night expeditions in the Limveld region.

• Small Jar Bazaar: This is a great source for bulk keys. If you have excess Murk, you can trade it here for bundles of 5 Stonesword Keys.
• Nightreign Castle Sewers: Because the castle is randomized, keys frequently spawn as fixed drops from "Silver Sphere" enemies in the changing tunnels.
• The Scholar's Sight: If you are playing the Scholar class, using "Arcane Sight" will highlight the shimmering white glow of a key through the thick fog of a Nightreign Storm.
• Spectral Hawk Trees: During a "Shadow Leak" event, keys can often be found at the base of Spectral Hawk Trees in the Forsaken Hollows.
